Tales & Tunes “Building the Rideau Canal” Sunday, May 11, 2014
Tales & Tunes “Building the Rideau Canal” at St. James the Apostle Anglican Church
At the corner of Drummond and Harvey
Sunday 11 May, 3:00-4:30
Our show features two original and humorous stories about the building of The Rideau Canal told by members of The Ottawa Storytellers, and a variety of sparkling music performed by the always-entertaining NorthWinds Brass Quintet. There will be some ‘classical’ arrangements, some new settings of Irish jigs and reels and one medley by Calixa Lavalee (who wrote Oh Canada). Dean Verger, a superb Ottawa storyteller has also written a fabulously funny “tie the girl to the railroad tracks” yarn to be accompanied by Lavalee’s medley. Come and enjoy!s
