Are you a student looking for a summer job with a great organization? Look no further, the Perth & District Chamber of Commerce has a Social Media and Marketing Coordinator position through the Canada Job Summer Grant.

10 weeks (35 hours/week) @ Hourly wage: $15.00

The successful incumbent will be responsible for building and maintaining an interactive social media presence on various social media platforms. This person will report to the Executive Director. The successful incumbent must be creative, inventive, and work well independently. We are looking for a go-getter who is driven and takes initiative!

Skills & Responsibilities: 

  • Members videos/profiles using the Membership Directory
  • Identify prospective business to interview
  • Design the layout, look and feel of the video/business profile
  • Create FB content for videos
  • Put together a video to be used on the website
    • Look at what other Chambers are doing
  • Create a Video on Why to Join the Chamber
  • Create a video library for future use
  • Update the Business Directory for 2022/23 with new printable format
  • Look at advertising options for the directory
  • Content ideas: Best spots for Instagram selfies
  • Area’s Best Patios
  • Q & A on our Members
  • Celebrate First Responders
  • Tour de Fires
  • Assisting with Chamber Golf Tournament
  • Pick up auction items and help out at the tournament on August 11th
  • Create Nominee Videos for the Annual Business Awards Gala
  • Set up meeting with nominees
  • Post nominations through social media outlets
  • Take photos of DNE, Tay Valley, Lanark Highlands, and Town of Perth for Visitor Guide
  • Create photo library
  • Create a FALL Chamber event.
  • Identifying new strategies for online engagement
  • Create/update Tourism Brochures via Canva
  • Managing and maintaining the organization’s social media platforms (i.e. Instagram, Facebook) 
  • Creating interesting and exciting content for social media users that relate to and promote the company’s brand 
  • Remaining up to date with the latest trends and social media practices
  • Growing our online social media presence
  • Promoting the organization’s mission and spreading awareness of different upcoming events
  • Provide bi-weekly reports to Executive Director on tasks completed

Qualifications:

•             Preferred post secondary studies in marketing, media relations, communications or advertising

•             Proactive self-starter

•             An understanding of various social media platforms

•             Strong writing and editing skills

•             Consistent attention to detail

•             Able use various design and video editing platforms
