Today, Elite is owned and operated by Alexander Roberts, who officially took the reins in 2023. But his connection to the business started long before that.
Elite Engraving & Embroidery was originally founded by Alex’s aunt and uncle, who built the business on strong values: integrity, quality workmanship, and genuine relationships with customers. During the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Alex’s aunt and uncle approached him with a proposition: take over the business and carry on the legacy they had worked so hard to build.
At the time, Alex was living in Toronto, working in fast-paced T-shirt embroidery shops and thriving as a graphic designer. The offer came at a moment of reflection, and with deep respect for his family’s legacy and a desire to apply his creative talents in a more meaningful way, Alex said yes.
“It was never in my plan to run a business—especially not back home. But when I thought about the opportunity to grow something and utilize my creativity, I knew it was right.”
Alex brought a fresh energy to Elite, combining his background in design with a passion for making things by hand. Over time, he learned the business inside and out—including how to operate and troubleshoot embroidery machines, how to manage orders and deadlines, and how to balance creativity with consistency.
One of his biggest early decisions as a new owner was launching a major shop expansion—a leap of faith during one of their busiest seasons. While juggling renovations and daily operations was a challenge, the result was well worth it: a more efficient, spacious work environment, perfectly suited for Elite’s growing list of services.
