1st Annual Maple Weekend, April 4 to 5th, 2015

What is Maple Weekend?

Ottawa valley sugar shacks and producers The Lanark and District Maple Syrup Producers Association will be hosting the first Annual Maple Weekend on April 4 – 5, 2015 from 10am to 4pm. Participants in the Maple Weekend can be found in Lanark, Leeds and Grenville, Frontenac, and the City of Ottawa.

We want to give you a first-hand opportunity to see how maple products are produced, from tree to table, along with the chance to taste and purchase quality maple products.

Activities

Ottawa Valley pancake breakfastsJoin the fun at a local sugar house. Sugar makers will invite you to share in the centuries-old craft of maple sugaring. Come and talk to the producers in your local area. They will be happy to share with you how their operation works.

Many will be offering free samples of fresh syrup, as well as maple candies and confections. Come enjoy pancake breakfasts, sugarbush trails, sugar making demonstrations, taffy on snow, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and more. Experience the traditional maple sugaring craft and taste why pure Ontario maple syrup has long been a favourite springtime treat. Share in the fun of the sweetest time of the year.

Ontario maple syrup producers have a reputation for producing some of the best syrup in the world. During Maple Weekend our maple producers will demonstrate how maple syrup is made – whether it’s simply boiling the sap in a cauldron over an open fire, or processing it through high-tech RO systems and modern fuel efficient evaporators – the results always taste great!
