Meet Our Staff
Learn more about the staff who will greet you at the Perth and District Chamber of Commerce Office:
Pauline Fitchett, General Manager
What is your background experience?
In the past I have been a Program Coordinator for a non-profit organization called Wildlife Habitat Canada, as well as a Program Coordinator for Arts Carleton Place. Both of these positions allowed me to work with a number of different groups of individuals, businesses, non-profit organizations and governments at different levels as well as Board of Directors. I enjoyed these positions because both allowed me to work closely with customers, members and businesses. I truly like getting to know people. Before my time at these organizations I also was a Retail Manager for almost 10 years. I believe this helps me to understand the business side of my position at the Chamber. I’m looking forward to working with all of the members and partners associated with the Perth & District Chamber of Commerce.
What is it like working with the community’s businesses?
I enjoy having the opportunity to connect and work with the local businesses of Perth & District for many reasons, but mostly I love the community feel the businesses have created. Also, it’s encouraging to see how supportive the Chamber Members have been to the Chamber over the years. It is definitely a feeling of a community working together. I grew up in a small village and it feels like being home.
What facet of the job do you most enjoy?
What I enjoy most as the Chamber Manager is that each day is different. I’m able to connect with the visitors and business owners that come through the doors, but I’m also able to be involved in the many different ways the Chamber supports its member. We plan networking sessions, educational seminars as well as organize many different events that support our members.
What’s something about the Chamber you wish more people knew about?
The Staff and Board Members are truly ambassadors for the region, but also for our member’s businesses. We have the great opportunity to speak directly to tourists, other business owners and representatives from the different municipal offices. We love to help the many visitors that come to the Chamber, whether they are looking for something to do, someplace to eat or someplace to stay. It is a great feeling to have been able to connect a visitor with one of our members or to help them learn about how Perth & District is both a great place to visit and live!

What is it like working with the community’s businesses?
I have been involved in family businesses most of my life. Working with the businesses within our community and surrounding area to improve economic growth is extremely inspiring.
What facet of your job do you most like?
I enjoy the changes and dynamics that happen on a daily basis. It creates a diversified work environment and a wonderful learning experience. I am very proud of our community and what it has to offer and the chamber provides a wonderful venue to promote our area. I enjoy both the front end with the people as well as the planning and paperwork that goes on behind the scenes.
