Join us at the Ampitheatre at Murpy’s Point Provincial Park for a rousing evening of songs and stories with David Archibald

Sunday August 1st from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Visit the Lally Homestead the the Silver Queen Mine at Murphy’s Point Provincial Park  (located about 2km from the main gate).

Homestead Activities

Olde-time children’s games and crafts; stories by Bear the Tinker, Blacksmithing Demonstrations, Music Entertainment, Rope Making, What Is It Box

Silver Queen Mine Activities

Take a tour underground into the mica mine; visit the miners’ bunkhouse; meet Cookie and other costumed interpreters, lunch of corn on the cob, maple baked beans and lemonade. (donations appreciated)

Two days of beauty and surprise await you as you step back in time to explore a collection of homes all decked out for Christmas. Your senses will be stirred by the magnificance of these homes and the history of each home comes alive as you listen to their individual stories.

Explore the houses on Saturday, Dec. 4th and Sunday, Dec. 5th, or both. Lunch will be provided by the United Church women for a small fee on Saturday; by the Anglican Church on Sunday.

Through an interactive walk and game come and discover the secrets behind the smallest ferns and the myseteries of the biggest pine trees at Foley Mountain. (Meet and the group campground).

This is a wildlife scavenger hunt! Using only your senses and a set of clues, it is up to you to prove that wildlife exists in Foley Mountain.

Rockin’ Reptiles and Awesome Amphibians

Join us for some hands-on activities to investigate the wonderful world of reptiles and amphibians! Get a chance to meet a live black rat snake and stinkpot turtle for an up-close look at these amazing animals.

Children must be accompanied by an adult for all programs.

Programs are FREE with Park Day pass.

Meet at the Interpretive Centre unless otherwise specified.

22nd Annual Ontario Tree Climbing Championship Stewart Park, Perth Ontario

This annual event attracts arborists and members of the tree care industry from across Ontario.

” The natural beauty of Stewart Park brings many visitors to the area. While you are here enjoy a free community yoga class in Stewart Park. Bring your mats and plant your feet upon the earth and enjoy!

Classes run (weather permitting) on Saturdays from July 3-August 7, 0745-0830. Classes are held in the middle of the park, by the 1st foot bridge.

The ‘Art of Being Green Projects’ presents a weekend of live performances and local flavours at the Middleville Fairgrounds!

On Friday, August 27th the ‘Fiddling at the Fairgrounds’ event will feature live performances by musicians including: Wade Foster, Elly Squared, and John Richard.  3 pm to 11 pm.

The ‘Fresh Air festival’ on Saturday, August 28th will focus on local flavours with a 100 mile lunch.  10 am to 5:30 pm.

The Middleville Fairgrounds are located at 4189 Wolf Grove Road in Middleville.

At present, the cycling committee is working on a Bike Rodeo which is being held at Conlon Farm, Perth on May 16, 2010.  If you would like to visit the Rodeo, visit Conlon Farm between 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.   If you would like to volunteer at the Rodeo, call the Chamber.

The Corporate Image committee has been instrumental in the creation and overseeing of the new chamber website. 

The committee meets regularly to keep ideas and communications flowing between the chamber directors, staff and web master.

The Advertising and Promotions Committee is a sub committee of the Tourism Coalition and is working very hard to bring together all of our advertising resources! The committee is currently researching areas where our current partnerships are advertising in to avoid overlap and to combine resources to gain the greatest value in our promotional activities.  The committee meets on a monthly basis and looks after general advertising for Perth & District in the areas of print, social media, radio and television.
